Morning & Sunset Trail Rides!

Catalina Trail Rides

We practice and teach Natural Horsemanship riding to our guests, for happier horses! Your mount and saddle are chosen specifically for you, by the criteria you give us in the booking form. NEVER underestimate your weight as it may delay your ride (we have horses capable of carrying 350+ lbs and there is no judgement here). We encourage you to understate your ability if you are an advanced rider but want a quiet ride. Please give a minimum two hours notice when you want to book a ride. Unlike other stables, our horses do not stand wearing saddles all day!

When booking a ride: make sure all boxes are filled out correctly before submitting. If you do not get a message that says “we will be in contact with you shortly”, along with Zelle and Venmo QR payment codes, your registration did NOT go through. Please scroll down to find any Red boxes that need editing before trying to submit again. Call us if you continue to have problems. Please pay immediately after booking (fully refundable with a four hour cancellation notice). We will not saddle up horses if a ride is not paid in advance, unless arrangements have been made with us ahead of time. Please respect our time if you aren’t going to make it, call and cancel your ride!

In Spring when it’s warm, we offer trail rides at 9:00am, 10:30am, 4:00pm and 5:30pm (Sunset). Enjoy the desert Flora and Fauna of the Santa Catalina mountain foothills, on the back of a sure-footed stock horse. Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort boasts 80 acres of pristine private trails, daytime 60 min walk ($75 pp) & 90 min walk/trot rides ($100 pp), 60min sunset ($85 pp) 90 min sunset ($110 pp). All rides include use of an approved riding helmet, a short safety lesson and a water bottle. We can take Pictures of your ride and ask for a 5 star reviews if you enjoyed your ride. There is a minimum 15% wrangler gratuity required for groups of 5 or more. Please pay it upon arrival.

Oct to April, intermediate+ riders can choose a 2, 3 or 4 hour off-site Tucson area mountain, desert canyon, river bed or outlying Saguaro forrest rides. ($200 pp, 2 hours, each additional hour $75 pp). Leave the bustle of the city behind for a tranquil, authentic Western experience!

Who We Are

Catalina Riding Club is owned and managed by Rose and Robert English.

Rose Lindley English was born and raised in Tucson Arizona, where she got her first pony in the 5th grade. She was a Texas barrel racer and turn-back rider for Tom Lyons cutting horse ranch in Grandview, Texas. Rose taught riding lessons and guided trail rides for Lazy K Bar Guest Ranch in Tucson. Rose has owned & managed Rockin’ B Riding Club, which is the #1 Horse Camp in Anchorage Alaska for 17 years. She was a Certified Horsemanship Association instructor, for both English and western riding. Studying under several natural horsemanship trainers over the years, she learned to communicate well, and has the ability to teach her students and horses to be bold and confident. Rose has dedicated her life to the education and development of her horses and students. Many of her riders have gone on to enjoy successful equestrian careers.

After 30 years braving the cold winters of Alaska, Rose decided to head home with Bob and many of their finest school horses. They started Catalina Riding Club at Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa. They now spend quality time with family, and a new community of students and riders! Rose & Bob still own Rockin’ B Ranch and will return each year to serve the students in their highly popular summer camp program.

Bob English is Rose’s biggest support system. He is the main caregiver of the horses, drag rider on trail rides, maintenance manager, lead mechanic and grounds keeper of Catalina Riding Club stables. If you see Bob around, thank him for all he does behind the scenes.
